1-MIN READ1-MIN ListenAmbrose LiPublished: 8:20pm, 23 Aug 2026A 76-year-old man has been hospitalised after falling on an escalator at a Hong Kong shopping centre, while two other elderly people sustained minor injuries, according to police.

The force received a report at 4.19pm on Sunday that three people had fallen on an escalator in phase one of Shek Lei Shopping Centre, trapping the man.

He sustained injuries to his arms and legs and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital.

Photos circulating online show fire services and paramedics at the scene assisting the injured, with the escalator temporarily closed.

The same escalator was involved in a similar incident on August 1, when a 75-year-old woman carrying a one-year-old girl lost her balance and fell, landing on a 66-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man standing behind her.

All four sustained head injuries and abrasions to their limbs and were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
