WFAN’s Craig Carton joins OutKick as Fox News Digital expands sports push: ‘Truly excited’

Add The New York Post on Google WFAN afternoon drivetime star Craig Carton is joining OutKick to host a new sports and culture show as the platform prepares to become the official sports brand of Fox News Digital.

“The Craig Carton Show” will launch Sept. 8, with new episodes airing Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, OutKick announced this week.

The announcement of Carton’s hiring comes as OutKick enters a new era without founder Clay Travis, who left the platform in June as it became a vertical within Fox News Digital.

Travis, who launched OutKick in 2011, remains a Fox News Media contributor.

Travis this week launched a new media venture, Sport & State, which will similarly span sports, pop culture and politics.

Carton, the longtime New York sports radio personality and current host of WFAN’s “The Carton Show” alongside Chris McMonigle, said he had watched OutKick’s rise for years before signing on.

“I’ve admired Outkick from afar for years and being able to join the team is something I’m truly excited about,” Carton told The Post on Friday.

“Being able to work alongside Tomi [Lahren] and Riley [Gaines] and Dan [Dakich] is gonna be awesome.”

Carton, who will continue to broadcast his WFAN show, added that he feels “blessed to have been given some amazing opportunities throughout my career and joining Outkick and the Fox News family is right there at the top.”

The sports talk personality also co-hosts “The Joint Venture Show,” a weekly video podcast launched in July with rapper Lil Wayne that covers sports, music, entertainment and pop culture.

Carton’s arrival comes as OutKick is slated to officially integrate with Fox News Digital on Aug. 24, a move announced in June.

OutKick also is rolling out a new logo and the tagline “Where Sports and Culture Collide.”

“This is a pivotal moment for OutKick as the integration with Fox News Digital will expand its reach and influence throughout sports media,” Fox News Digital Editorial Executive Vice President Tommy Firth said in a statement.

The new show will tackle national sports and culture stories and feature interviews with guests each week, according to the company.

Carton previously co-hosted WFAN’s “Boomer & Carton” for 10 years. He was inducted into the New York State Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame in 2024.

OutKick is also planning a slate of new offerings this fall, including OutKick University, focused on college campuses during football season; outdoors vertical OutKick OutDoors; and pro-wrestling hub OutKick Dropkick.

The company said it will later release its first animated series, “Sports Talk with Cal McCallister.”

OutKick drew 10.9 million desktop and mobile unique visitors in July, a 94% increase from a year earlier, according to Comscore figures supplied by the company.

Total multiplatform views jumped 138% to 55 million, while minutes surged 201% to 66 million.

Fox News and OutKick are subsidiaries of Fox Corp — sister company to The Post’s corporate parent News Corp.
