equal time Phil Mushnick Little League World Series betting has arrived to deliver us to an unfathomable low By Phil Mushnick Published Aug. 20, 2026, 6:54 p.m. ET Bridgewater 12 year-old stars are introduced during opening ceremonies at the Little League Baseball World Series. USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect Several months ago I began to receive, almost daily, unsolicited emails from another sports gambling shill, this one named Josh Barton.

I suspect that’s not his real name as 40 years of studying this side of the “gaming industry” has taught me that almost none use their real names despite soulful claims that I’m lucky to have connected with the one honest dude in a business loaded with those so irredeemably dishonest you wouldn’t let them visit your incarcerated grandmother.

In Barton’s case he claims to represent BetOnline Sports & Casino, an offshore — Panama, if you’re ever in the neighborhood — enterprise, thus not subject to U.S. gambling laws and authorities — no matter how feckless and overwhelmed they’ve become since Adam Silver, Rob Manfred and the biggest phony in the phone book, Roger Goodell, sold their leagues’ logos and integrity for a cut of the action.

Our commissioners basically serve as regional front men — consiglieres — for billions in a gambling ring.
