‘SLOMW’ star Jen Affleck breaks silence on Julianne Hough’s viral ‘DWTS’ shade

With Danny and Evan TV exclusive ‘SLOMW’ star Jen Affleck breaks silence on Julianne Hough’s viral ‘DWTS’ shade By Samantha Nungesser, Evan Real and Danny Murphy Published Aug. 20, 2026, 11:51 a.m. ET Jen Affleck is clearly moving on.

The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star exclusively spoke to Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” about her time on Season 34 of “Dancing with the Stars” — including that viral moment when host Julianne Hough pointed out that Affleck had “clearly” just given birth.

“There [are] a lot of nerves when it comes to being on national TV in front of millions of people, so I don’t think she had any ill intent whatsoever,” Affleck, 27, told us while promoting her partnership with Quest Nutrition.

“I think it was just a comment in the moment that was just perceived the wrong way.”

The reality TV star made her “Dancing With the Stars” debut last fall, just eight weeks after giving birth to her third child with husband Zac Affleck.

After Jen performed her opening dance with her partner, former Eras Tour dancer Jan Ravnik, Hough asked her, “How did you feel after, just clearly, giving birth and getting out here on the dance floor?”

The comments section quickly lit up, with TikTok users slamming Hough’s “poor choice of words.”

“It was a weird question,” one user wrote, while another asked, “What did you mean by ‘clearly giving birth’?”

Affleck — who was eliminated from “DWTS” during Week 7 — told us she was in “pure survival mode” being freshly postpartum, and that she “didn’t actually ever process” Hough’s comment.

“There’s a lot of things that I don’t think I processed during ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” she said. “Looking back, I’m like, ‘Oh, that happened? Oh, that happened. Oh, yeah, I was postpartum. Oh, yeah, I was breastfeeding.’”

Still, she had nothing but fond memories from her time in the ballroom.

“Now, looking back at ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ I am full of gratitude and, honestly, I’m still trying to process all of that because it was the craziest time in my life,” she said.

Jen and Zac share three children: daughter Nora, 4, son Luca, 2, and daughter Penelope, 1.

The MomTok creator announced in June that she and Zac are expecting their fourth baby.

While she wouldn’t divulge too many details about the current state of her marriage, Jen confirmed that it would all play out on Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County” spinoff.

“You’ll just have to wait and see,” she teased.
