Add The New York Post on Google Far-left state lawmaker Angie Nixon defeated retired Army Lt. Col. Alex Vindman in the Florida Democratic special Senate primary election Tuesday night.
Nixon led Vindman 55.2% to 44.8% with more than 80% of ballots counted when the Associated Press called the race in her favor.

Nixon will take on incumbent Sen. Ashley Moody (R-Fla.) in November. The winner of that race will serve the remainder of the six-year term that Marco Rubio was elected to in 2022.
