Peacock, Please Cast These 10 Celebrities Ladies of London: The New Reign is finally here, and surprisingly, one of the most interesting characters in the show isn’t from London at all.
Margo Stilley, an American actress, joined the reboot as a longtime friend of Martha Lady Sitwell, a former model and divorcee living in a “grottage” and picking her life back up after her failed marriage left her with nothing. Having spent much of her adult life in London, Stilley relocated back to Los Angeles more than a decade ago. But now that she has returned to the UK, she seems more than ready to navigate the posh London social scene, rebuild her career, and make a new name for herself.
So, who is Margo Stilley? And what is she famous for? Keep reading for everything you need to know!
Born and raised in South Carolina, Stilley, 42, moved to London in her late teens to pursue a modeling and acting career. She had her breakout role in the controversial British film, 9 Songs, which has been dubbed the “most sexually explicit mainstream film in all of British history.” The 2004 film, directed by Michael Winterbottom, features several scenes of actual sexual intercourse, oral sex, and ejaculation, though Stilley maintains that it was not “porn.” The actress has also appeared in films like How to Lose Friends & Alienate People with Jeff Bridges, Agatha Christie’s Marple with Benedict Cumberbatch, and Hippie Hippie Shake with Cillian Murphy.
Having moved to Los Angeles more than a decade ago, Stilley admits in the early episodes of Ladies of London that she didn’t have much luck finding work in the City of Angels. Therefore, she decided to pack up her family—including her husband, his two teenage sons, and their one-year-old daughter—and move back to London to restart her career. Oh, and she’s sober! Apparently, Sitwell “broke” her after back-to-back trips to Ibiza and Scotland left her crying tears of vodka.
