Harrison Ford, 84, shocks fans with new Indiana Jones announcement

Add Page Six on Google Harrison Ford isn’t hanging up his fedora just yet.

The Oscar nominee, 84, is set to reprise his role as Indiana Jones in the forthcoming attraction “Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent” at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom.

“Hello, D23. Thanks for coming along on all of Indy’s adventures,” Ford said in a pre-recorded message played at the fan event. “Soon it’ll be time for his next ride, and I’m pleased to share that, for the first time ever, I’m the actual model of the Indiana Jones animatronic — fear of snakes included.”

“I’m excited for you to see his next epic adventure, and I’m coming to Walt Disney World soon,” he teased.

In Disney Parks’ Instagram post featuring Ford’s announcement, fans flocked to the comments to express their excitement.

“Having Harrison Ford living forever through this attraction was the best decision 🔥👏,” one fan gushed, while another praised, “This makes me tear up knowing his legacy will forever be enshrined 🥹.”

“Harrison, you’re the only Indiana Jones! Nobody but you can play our beloved archeologist,” one fan stated, while another added, “harrison better have in his contract that only he can play the character of indiana jones.”

To date, Ford has played Indiana Jones — the globetrotting archaeology professor known for digging up priceless artifacts and trouble — across five films across more than 40 years.

He first played the character in Steven Spielberg’s 1981 hit “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” with the filmmaking pair going on to team up for 1984’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” 1989’s “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” and 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

In 2023, Ford starred in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” from director James Mangold.

While the franchise has earned more than $2.3 billion at the worldwide box office, according to The Numbers, the latest film was a disastrous flop for Disney.

It should be no surprise for Ford’s fans that he’d be stepping back into the role of Indy, as he was photographed showing off his ripped physique while biking in Los Angeles just last month.

In March, the “Shrinking” star was presented with the Life Achievement Award at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards to commemorate his legendary seven-decade career in show business, saying he was both “incredibly grateful” and “quite humbled” to accept the honor.

Ford — who is also best known for playing Han Solo in the “Star Wars” franchise — joked in his emotional acceptance speech that “it’s a little weird to be getting a lifetime achievement award at the halfway point of my career.” He added: “It’s a little early, isn’t it? I’m still a working actor.”

The usually stoic actor went on to note he “was not an overnight success” and that he “struggled for about 15 years” before he finally “got a part in a wildly successful film.”

Ford called acting “one of the greatest joys of [his] life” and thanked his longtime wife, Calista Flockhart, and his family for having “given [him] love and courage through all of it.”
