Add The New York Post on Google Gotham FC overcame a tie for the fastest goal in NWSL history Friday night by receiving goals from Midge Purce and a landmark tally by Sam Kerr to give the hosts a 2-1 NWSL victory over the Kansas City Current Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, N.J.
Gotham FC improved to 13-3-4 with 43 points and increased their first-place lead over the idle Washington Spirit to seven points.

Mark Smith-Imagn Images The 33-year-old Kerr was the recipient of Jaedyn Shaw’s deft moves to dribble past two defenders and slide a pass to the Australian international as she tapped the ball into the net in the 41st minute for a 2-1 Gotham lead. She became Gotham FC’s all-time leading scorer with her 31st career tally.
Amelia White shocked Gotham just 22 seconds into the contest by chipping the ball over goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger and tying the record for the fastest goal in league history.
The lead was short-lived for the visitors. Shaw’s 30-yard delivery on a free kick sailed into the box and hit the leg of Current defender Gabrielle Robinson. Purce pounced quickly to react for the 13th-minute tally to level the match at 1-all.
