The new HBO Max series Lanterns is part of the DCU’s “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” phase, and the first of eight episodes premieres on Sunday, August 16. (Episodes will drop weekly on Sunday nights through Oct. 4.) Also out this weekend, check out Adam Sandler’s daughter Sunny Sandler in Don’t Say Good Luck, a star-studded teen dramedy with some big names in the cast, including Melanie Lynskey and Steve Buscemi. And Camp Rock 3 arrived to the Disney Channel yesterday and is streaming on Disney+ today, so get your fill of the Jonas Brothers now!
In Lanterns, Kyle Chandler stars as veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan as he trains newbie John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) to replace him. The duo are stationed in Nebraska and while they investigate a local murder, the uncover some deadly secrets and extraterrestrial happenings that are all linked. Nathan Fillion, Kelly Macdonald and Garret Dillahunt all co-star.
Sunny Sandler, who previously starred in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, now stars in Don’t Say Good Luck, a new Netflix coming of age dramedy. In the film, Sandler plays Sophie, a teen who just got cast in the lead role of her high school musical, but she doesn’t get to ride that high for long when she learns that her mother (Melanie Lynskey) has cancer. Sophie’s dad is played by Max Greenfield in the film, and other co-stars include Stephanie Beatriz, Steve Buscemi, and Bebe Neuwirth.
The Jonas Brothers are back for another sequel in the hit Camp Rock films. Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas are back as the pop sensations Connect3, and they’re visiting the camp in search of new talent to open for them on their next tour. The competition is fierce between the talented campers who are all looking for their big break. The film arrived on the Disney Channel on August 13, and streams on Disney+ on August 14.
