Because you can never have too many Frankenstein movies, director Maggie Gyllenhaal is throwing her hat into the ring with The Bride!, a new gothic romance loosely based on the 1935 film Bride of Frankenstein and the 1818 Mary Shelley novel Frankenstein.
Written and directed by Gyllenhaal, who made her writing and directing debut with the 2021 film The Lost Daughter, The Bride stars Oscar front-runner Jessie Buckley as “The Bride,” a resurrected corpse of dead woman, brought to life by Dr. Euphronious (played by Annette Bening). The resurrection comes at the request of Frankenstein’s monster, aka Frank (played by Christian Bale), who is lonely and wishes for a companion. Also starring Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal (brother to Maggie Gyllenhaal), and Penélope Cruz, The Bride promises to be a wild ride of violence, sex, and gothic romance.
It sounds like a fun on to see on the big screen, but if you’d rather wait to watch The Bride! at home, read on to find out where and when we expect to see The Bride movie on streaming.
Right now, The Bride 2026 movie is only available to watch in a movie theater when it opens in theaters on Friday, March 6. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. However, we do expect The Bride movie to be on streaming eventually.
The Bride movie is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Warner Bros. release, will have a streaming home on the Warner Bros.-owned streaming service, HBO Max. If you want to watch the new The Bride 2026 movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max.
If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.
If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.
All the new WB theatrical movies end up streaming on Max, though the wait period has varied by title. One Battle After Another, for example, was released on PVOD about a month-and-a-half after opening in theaters, and began streaming on HBO Max about two-and-a-half months after it was released in theaters. If The Bride follows a similar release pattern, you may see The Bride on digital around mid-to-late April 2026, and streaming on HBO Max around mid-to-late May 2026.
But that’s pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. If you want to see The Bride movie right away, your best is to catch the movie in theaters.
