President Trump on Tuesday blasted New York’s new pied-à-terre tax on luxury second homes as “pure Amateur Hour” that will “RUIN” the Big Apple.

Trump, in a Truth Social screed, said he’d direct the federal government to look into the tax before calamity strikes his hometown.

President Trump on Tuesday blasted NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s troubled pied-à-terre tax on luxury second homes as “pure Amateur Hour” that will “RUIN” the Big Apple. “This dangerous political ‘experiment’ in New York will destroy what was once a great City and State. It is pure Amateur Hour, and it’s hard, as President of the United States of America, to sit back and watch it happen, especially to a place I once loved,” the characteristically bombastic post read.

The post came a day after a Staten Island judge temporarily halted Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s rollout of the surcharge over a lawsuit claiming the city was bungling it and unfairly burdening homeowners.

Mamdani’s administration filed an appeal of the temporary restraining order, meaning the tax remains in effect pending a hearing with a higher court.

The tax, approved by state lawmakers and Gov. Kathy Hochul, takes aim at owners of luxury second homes in New York City worth $5 million or more, or $1 million if a co-op or condo.
