Add The California Post on Google The 2026 season is expected to be a turning point for the Las Vegas Raiders, mostly because of the anticipation for their current rookie class.
On Monday, rookie cornerback Jermod McCoy revealed what his goals are with the new season on the horizon.
“I definitely want to be an all-rookie, just [have to] make the team, All-Pro,” McCoy told reporters after practice. “I wanna get like 3 to 4 picks, you know I love getting that ball back.”
McCoy was then asked if he believes he’s the best corner in the draft, and responded by saying: “Yeah.”

Before the draft, McCoy was coveted as one of the top cornerbacks coming out of college football and was projected to be a first round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after having a four interception season, with 44 tackles in his sophomore year at Tennessee.
His junior year with Tennessee would never happen after he tore his ACL during an offseason workout in January 2025.
The injury revealed that he had a cartilage issue in his knee, which created a level of concern among teams.

The cornerback position is a thin area for a Raiders team that has allowed opponents to throw for an average of 201 yards per game against them last year.
The Raiders are set to kickoff the preseason this week when they host the Arizona Cardinals Thursday.
For McCoy, it will be a nearly 20-month hiatus since he’s been on the football field, meaning this Thursday will mean something extra because of his journey.
“I’m just gonna look around and take it all in,” McCoy said. “At any point, this game can be taken from us, so just always cherishing these moments.”
