Superstar running back Christian McCaffrey was held out of Monday’s practice with what the team is calling “tightness”. There’s no indication about what part McCaffrey’s body is feeling tight, nor how significant this tightness might be.

While McCaffrey played in all of the 49ers’ games last season, he was limited to just four games during the 2024 season because of a PCL sprain in his knee and Achilles tendinitis.
If McCaffrey has to miss any time because of this “tightness”, he’ll be added to an already expansive list of San Francisco offensive players that are currently dealing with ailments. George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk, Mike Evans, Christian Kirk, and Ricky Pearsall are other offensive weapons that are dealing with an injury to some degree right now.

He carried the ball 311 times for 1,202 yards with 10 touchdowns while adding 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven scores through the air last season.
Perhaps this training camp absence is more precautionary than anything, and McCaffrey isn’t in danger of missing any more time. But given how San Francisco’s injury luck has been, there’s already a lot of concern about this report.
