Add The New York Post on Google The Issue: Dr. Anthony Fauci held in contempt of Congress after his Senate hearing. I am dumbfounded by how Dr. Anthony Fauci got away with pleading the Fifth Amendment 111 times and, if found guilty of contempt, he only faces one year in jail and a $100,000 fine (“Save Science,” Glenn Harlan Reynolds, PostOpinion, Aug. 4).
He should have been charged with a felony, not a misdemeanor. Something’s wrong with America’s judicial system. Fauci has blood on his hands and he got away with not telling the truth about how he handled COVID-19. It is time for the government and American public to get to the bottom of this smoking gun fiasco.
Fauci’s repeated refusal to answer questions during his Senate hearing is reason enough to re-examine how the Fifth Amendment is applied in situations involving public officials. I feel quite certain this was not what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they ratified the Constitution.
More than likely, Fauci will skate, and we will never get to the bottom of a pandemic that, in my opinion, he was instrumental in helping unleash upon the world.
It’s disheartening to see this distinguished scientist-physician sullied by a senator’s ad hominem political attack. Fauci is wholly justified in using the protection that our Constitution gives all witnesses against self-incrimination. One may criticize his judgment during the pandemic, but can’t make any criminal accusation of what he did during that difficult time.
Once again, the left side of the aisle is on the wrong side of history, voting against Fauci being held in contempt.
This decision, on the heels of leftists voting for radicals who hate America and Israel, sounds like something the United Nations would do.
Why are they protecting Fauci’s lies? Tell the truth, Tony, it will help with the next pandemic.
Fauci would have invoked the Fifth Amendment if asked, “Should a doctor be truthful to his or her patients?” Anyone still backing him clearly does not care if their doctors lie to them.
Seemingly fraudulent senior day-care centers in Flushing collected $100 million in taxpayers’ money (“Flushing out ‘fraud’ in Qns.,” Aug. 4).
Bilk the government once, shame on you. Bilk the government twice (or more), shame on the government. Where was the oversight? This is very sad and unsettling.
Given exposure of all the fraud that is going on in Queens regarding these adult-care centers, why have the governor, the attorney general and the FBI not stepped in and began shutting these places down?
They need to go after all the people responsible for opening up these phony day-care centers and try to recoup some of the money that has been stolen from the taxpayers.
Medicaid fraud is only a small portion of the crime and corruption that has overtaken what used to be a very attractive place to live and shop. Only a blind person could fail to note the plethora of “pharmacies,” “senior centers” and “spas” that seem to be anything but what their signage indicates.
Why are the local elected officials, community board and police not intervening? I’m guessing more than a few people are being paid to look the other way.
