Passengers evacuate down slide at ATL airport shortly after smoke forces emergency landing

Add The New York Post on Google Passengers evacuated an Orlando-bound flight through the aircraft’s emergency slide after the plane made an emergency landing in Atlanta shortly after takeoff.

Delta flight 2204 was carrying around 200 passengers and six crew members on Saturday morning when a smoke condition was reported in the flight deck, prompting the crew to declare an emergency.

“A slide evacuation occurred on a taxiway, and customers are being reaccommodated on a new aircraft,” the statement continued.

“Safety is paramount at Delta, and we apologize to our customers for their experience.”

Passengers exited the aircraft onto the tarmac using the emergency evacuation slides.

Passengers have been rebooked to Orlando, and the aircraft is currently undergoing inspection, according to NBC.
