Add The California Post on Google A plane crashed landed on Main Street in the small Northern California town of Ukiah on Friday morning, with its two occupants miraculously walking away unharmed and no one else injured in the wreck.
“It was amazingly lucky,” Ukiah Valley Fire Authority Battalion Chief Ryan Nelson told the Ukiah Daily Journal.
The private Cessna crashed on the 300 block of North Main Street around 10:45 a.m.
Nelson explained that no buildings, cars, people, animals or even utility poles were hit when the plane touched down.
“It was a very educated pilot,” Nelson told the Journal of the person who landed the plane and was uninjured.
His co-pilot, described as an adult man, suffered minor injuries during the sudden landing but didn’t receive medical treatment.
The men are thought to be from outside of the Mendocino County city.
Nelson explained that the plane experienced fuel and engine problems as it was heading toward Ukiah Municipal Airport. The plane did clip some power lines, but Nelson said that no power outages had been reported.
The Ukiah Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board are handling the investigation, according to Nelson. Staff from the Ukiah Airport also responded to the scene.
After NTSB responds, Nelson said that the wings of the plane will be taken off before it’s towed from the street.
