Police received a report at 3.25pm that the KMB route 86 bus was travelling along Cheung Sha Wan Road towards Kwai Chung when the rear-left wheel came loose, just outside Cheung Sha Wan Plaza.
The wheel struck and dented a metal railing, which in turn hit the boy as he waited for a bus.
The boy was conscious and complained of soreness in his left thigh. He was taken to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.
The 49-year-old driver surnamed Leung continued driving the bus for another 200 metres (656 feet) after the wheel came off before stopping. He passed the alcohol test.
