Add The New York Post on Google The Islanders added to their front office Monday while also completing their AHL overhaul, hiring Evan Gold as an assistant general manager and the general manager of their affiliate in Hamilton, the team announced.
Gold, who spent the last 12 years with the Bruins and said in a release that it’s “an honor” to join the Islanders, will replace Chris Lamoriello — the son of the former Islanders executive — as GM of AHL Hamilton, but Lamoriello will remain as one of Mathieu Darche’s assistant GMs alongside Ryan Bowness, Steve Pellegrini and now Gold.
And Gold will be tasked with overseeing an AHL team moving from Bridgeport to Hamilton, playing under first-year head coach Jay McKee and trying to build on a season where it clinched a spot in the postseason tournament for the first time since 2021-22.

Gold, who also worked in hockey operations with the Capitals, stepped into an assistant general manager role with the Bruins for the 2019-20 season and then became GM of AHL Providence for the last three seasons.
The Bruins’ affiliate made the playoffs in each of those three campaigns and collected 110 points in 2025-26. He’d also served as the Bruins’ director of legal affairs since 2015.
