Add The New York Post on Google Mike Golic Sr. crossed off many items on his ESPN bucket list, but he hasn’t completed everything he hopes to.
Ahead of his upcoming return to the Worldwide Leader, Golic shared that he wants to be part of the broadcast for the iconic July 4 hot dog eating contest at Coney Island, especially because his son, Mike Golic Jr., has done so already.
“Now that I’m back at ESPN, I am hoping to be able to live out one thing — you talk about one of the most disappointing things of all of my time at ESPN, and Mike [his son] got do it twice I think. Mike got to host, or be a part of the hot dog eating contest on July 4. I have never been a part of it. I am hoping as I hopefully finish my career at ESPN I will be asked to be on that broadcast,” Golic said.

Both agreed with Traina’s suggestion, and Golic Sr. said there are “endless possibilities” of what they could do together.
“Food is the great equalizer,” Golic Jr. said.
“With sports sometimes the barrier to entry can be this feeling like I don’t have the level of expertise or knowledge that someone else has. We all eat. We all got an opinion on that, so it’s perfect.”
After becoming one of ESPN’s most recognizable radio personalities from 1995-2020 and co-hosting “Mike & Mike” with Mike Greenberg, Golic Sr. will co-host “The Golics” with his son.
