Twins acquire Dean Kremer from Orioles ahead of deadline

Add The New York Post on Google The Minnesota Twins took another step in their desire to contend this week.

One day after acquiring A.J. Minter from the New York Mets, the Twins added Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Rosenthal noted that Kremer is owed about $1.7 million the rest of the 2026 MLB season.

Dan Hayes of The Athletic notes that 18-year-old prospect Jhonmardo Reyes is going back to Baltimore in the deal.

MLB Pipeline rated Reyes as the No. 24 prospect in their farm system before the deal.

Kremer, 30, has made just seven starts this season because he has battled a right quad strain.

In his seven starts, Kremer has posted a 6.50 ERA, allowing 26 runs in just 36 innings.

Kremer, who has been with the Orioles for the entirety of his pro career, has a lifetime 4.37 ERA in the majors across seven seasons of pro baseball.

Former Met A.J. Minter was acquired by the Twins on July 30, 2026, in an effort to fortify their pitching. Robert Sabo for the NY Post The Stockton, California native started in 29 of his 31 appearances last season, finishing with 4.19 ERA, striking out 142 hitters in 171 innings pitched.a

Reyes, while at the Rookie Ball level for the Twins in the Florida Complex League, posted a .950 OPS with seven home runs and 44 RBIs in just 49 games.

The Dominican outfielder has also played six A-ball level games this season, though he has gone just 2-for-19 in those games.

At 56-55, the Twins aren’t exactly juggernauts, but they’re just three games behind the Chicago White Sox for the Al Central lead. The Twins are tied with the Guardians for the final AL wild-card spot.

The Orioles, at 54-56, are still in the hunt, too, and remain just 1.5 games out of a playoff spot.
