The Pirates need multiple relievers and among those they are at least curious about are Huascar Brazobán and Luke Weaver, The Post has learned.
The Mets began on Thursday night what could be the biggest sell off in the majors before Monday’s deadline by trading a reliever, A.J. Minter, to the Twins for prospect infielders Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick.
Teams that have been talking to the Mets anticipate that they are likely to follow a traditional path for sellers – clear their walk-year players such as Minter and fellow lefty reliever Brooks Raley, and Freddy Peralta (at some point after his start Friday) and Clay Holmes (perhaps after he starts Sunday), plus Luis Robert Jr. and Tyrone Taylor.
The anticipation is that would create time and greater focus for David Stearns to see if the Mets can ratchet up a return that would motivate trading players currently excelling and with control beyond this year, notably Brazobán and Weaver.
