Giants’ 2013 second-rounder Jonathan Hankins is retiring from the NFL after an excellent career playing at defensive tackle for the Giants, Colts, Raiders, Cowboys and Seahawks, according to multiple reports.

Hankins, 34, was released last December by the Seahawks after he suffered a back injury and his entire 2025 campaign was spent on the Non-Football Injury list.
The Seahawks ultimately won the Super Bowl, but since Hankins did not play a snap in 2025, it is unknown whether the team granted him a ring.
The 6-foot-3, 335-pound hulking nose tackle did play all 17 games for Seattle the year prior.
The specifics of his back injury had not been revealed, but being placed on the NFI List implies that the injury was sustained off the field.

The ex-Ohio State product departed from the Giants in free agency in 2017 and signed with the Colts.
Hankins is best known as a run-stopping clogger along the defensive line, as he consistently ranked among the best run stoppers in the NFL.

Hankins never had another season with more than three sacks.
