That’s right: Adults is returning today, July 31, ahead of its Season 2 debut in August with a brand new episode.
If you’re wondering what the group’s dynamic is like now that Anton (Owen Thiele) and Paul Baker (Jack Innanen) are married (on paper), Paul Baker is still dating Issa (for real) and Anton definitely has some feelings for Paul Baker (also for real), you’re unfortunately going to have to wait a little longer, but this new episode will give fans something better — a look at how Paul Baker met Issa (Amita Rao), Anton, Billie (Lucy Freyer) and Samir (Malik Elassal).
Titled “Marathon Day,” the prequel episode will serve as Paul Baker’s origin story.
Series creators Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw announced the surprise new episode at the Adults Season 2 premiere at the Tribeca Festival in June.
“We’re so excited for the opportunity to show fans how this friend group came to be,” they said in a later press release. “We love a good origin story, and we can’t wait for you to see where the radioactive spider bit Paul Baker.”
The new Adults Paul Baker prequel episode comes out today, July 31, at 1 p.m. ET on FXX and Hulu.
