Instead, he hasn’t come close to expectations, pitching to a 4.99 ERA and 1.48 WHIP.
He had a 6.85 ERA in five July starts spanning 22 ¹/₃ innings.
He allowed 17 earned runs and five homers in that stretch.
A year ago with the Brewers, Peralta had a 2.70 ERA and finished fifth in the Cy Young Award voting. He was also an All-Star.

On the trading block like Peralta, the right-hander made his second minor league rehab start Tuesday for Single-A Port St. Lucie, throwing 59 pitches across for shutout innings.
Holmes has been out since May 15 with a fractured right fibula.
The Mets will decide on a next course of action after his bullpen session Friday.
Holmes could find himself on another team by Sunday, the next time he is ready to pitch.
Since the All-Star break, the Mets bullpen has the lowest ERA in the National League at 1.93. Their relievers haven’t given up an earned run over their last 20 ¹/₃ innings.
