Tsang Wai-bong and Kwan Pui-sin argue son should not be taken away from them because of their stance against vaccinations and prenatal check-ups
3-MIN READ3-MIN ListenElizabeth CheungPublished: 12:22pm, 31 Jul 2026Updated: 12:29pm, 31 Jul 2026The parents of a Hong Kong infant are applying for a legal order to review welfare authorities’ decision to remove the child from their care, as they expressed “fear and anger” about arrangements for their son, Danny, to receive “medical intervention” against their will.
Danny’s father, Tsang Wai-bong, and mother, Kwan Pui-sin, said they had already requested that the child not be vaccinated, adding that the decision to remove the child from their custody should not be based on their stance against vaccinations and prenatal check-ups.
The infant has been under the guardianship of the Social Welfare Department since last month.
The father told the South China Morning Post on Friday that he felt “fear and anger” over the authorities’ ongoing arrangements to have Danny undergo vaccinations and blood tests.
“We are not [fully] optimistic or pessimistic, but remain hopeful and keep our personal integrity,” Tsang said.
He said that if Danny were to receive any medical intervention against their will, they would treat it as “a sacrifice” that would “allow Hong Kong people and the world to know about the truth of child protection [carried out] by social services and the government”.
