exclusive details New York Giants John Mara’s presence gives John Harbaugh a training camp boost: ‘That’s our leader’ By Steve Serby Published July 30, 2026, 6:57 p.m. ET Giants owner John Mara speaks with quarterback Jaxson Dart (6) as GM Joe Schoen (l.) looks on during camp. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The wonderful sight of John Mara, progressing in his cancer battle, watching his Giants practice on Day 2 of training camp and interacting with John Harbaugh’s players, was inspiring for the revered owner’s new $100 million head coach.

“I think when you talk about the New York Giants, you talk about their legacy, you’re talking about the ownership line,” Harbaugh told The Post. “John Mara, he’s been doing this for how long? Many, many years, and not just since he’s been in that position in terms of running the organization.

“But his whole life. His whole life has been the New York Giants. He grew up with it. It’s in his DNA. It’s in his blood. I know how that is because my dad [Jack is] a coach. You live it when you’re 3, 4, 5 years old right on through every single day. And he’s that kind of a guy, he’s a football man. He’s been around it since he can remember, and you can see it, the wisdom and the judgment, the decision-making and all that.”
