MP Diane Abbott readmitted into Labour Party after suspension

In a statement, a Labour spokesperson said both women would also be readmitted into the parliamentary party, meaning they can sit as Labour MPs once again.

Abbott, who is Parliament's longest-serving female MP, was suspended in 2025 following an antisemitism row.

Reid has been sitting as an independent MP since March when she announced she was "voluntarily suspending herself" from the Labour Party after her husband was arrested on suspicion of spying for China.
