Add The New York Post on Google Mama’s bringing the trauma.
As kiddos from coast-to-coast prepare to return to the classroom in the coming weeks, one mother is making it clear that she’s not prepared to force her brood to tackle assignments, study for tests or complete enriching projects once the end-of-day school bell tolls.
“My children do not do homework and they’re never going to do homework,” a mom of three, ranging in age from 6 to 12, ranted to 162,000 virtual viewers. “They’re not going to go sit at school all day, for eight hours, come home and do homework.”
“If you want to fail them because of it, fail them because of it. Then you’ll be the reason why they don’t graduate,” she barked. “Teachers think they run s- -t and they don’t. I’m the parent, not them.”
Hers is a staunch stance that’s sorely dividing social media — and driving educators to ditch their desks.
Teachers are exiting the classrooms en masse due to an uptick in student violence, unfair pay, the overuse of technology, and, of course, uncooperative mothers and fathers.
Allinson Chavez, a former special education teaching assistant from Queens, recently abandoned the chalkboard to sling wings at Hooters. Now an icon at the bird and boobies haunt, the buxom brunette enjoys less parent-triggered stress and more money as a waitress than she ever did schooling tots on their ABCs.
Tera Flowers, a California-based teacher of more than 30 years, is one in the 40% of burned-out folks on the job who are planning to jump ship soon, per alarming new data. Flowers, 63, cited the intense “coddling” of students as her reason for leaving, saying, “The biggest change is the lack of discipline and consequences for the children and the increasing expectation of entitlement of the parents.”
Still, those unapologetic parents remain firm in their perverseness.
The mother in the viral vid — likely shared to rage bait the internet into a feuding tizzy — even doubled down on her anti-homework hot take, telling teachers, “Your job is to teach them at school. I’m not teaching them at home.”
“My job as a parent is to play with my kids, your job as a teacher is to teach my kids. Therefore, homework isn’t happening,” she reiterated. “I don’t know how to do algebra and I’m not going to learn.”
Unsurprisingly, her fierce refusal received heaps of support from likeminded mamas online.
“There is no need for homework at all,” a mom concurred beneath the controversial clip.
“Ya know what, I agree,” another chimed. “My kids do homework but I wouldn’t mind taking on the fight to argue that homework needs to be gone.”
“I dont believe in hours of homework,” said a separate naysayer, in part.
A wave of more conventional contrarians, however, interrupted the homework-hating protest to bash the parents for their apparent neglect.
♬ original sound – ashyassss “That’s just nonsense and bad parenting,” an elderly detractor spat. “I am 80-years-old and had lots of homework in my school days…If no homework, what [will children] do after coming home from school, play with [their] iPhone? An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.”
“You’re the problem,” an outraged onlooker accused.
“B- -ch what?,” another questioned, prompting equally perturbed faultfinders to label the mom “lazy,” and “stupid.”
“That’s your problem for neglecting your kid’s education,” noted a critic. “That’s why it’s called ‘homework.’ Your job as a parent [is] to help your kids do their homework at home.”
