Add The New York Post on Google Former Packers running back Ahman Green said Wednesday that he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
The 49-year-old, who is the Packers’ all-time rushing leader, announced the news on the “Go Long” podcast with Tyler Dunne while discussing his post-playing career and healthy lifestyle efforts.
“Last year, I got diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s,” Green said. “I had a little bit of the feet twitching when I’m in my sleep and stuff like that.”
“I knew something was going on long before that. I just got a hold of some doctors that I was able to get in contact with. Get the diagnostics, get the testing. And finally got it tested last — it was January of 2025.”

“I didn’t share it for a long time because I wanted to let my kids know, my family,” Green said. “I let them all know first before I told friends, family, somebody like yourself.”
To combat symptoms of Parkinson’s, Green said he’s focused on exercising, eating healthy and taking medication.
He added that he was also experiencing short-term memory loss and walking and talking in his sleep.
Green said his wife told him that’s been twitching in his sleep since shortly after he retired in 2009.
Still, Green remains optimistic about his outlook and advocates for awareness and early diagnosis of the disease.

Getty Images “It needs to be up front,” Green said. “It needs to be a topic that’s always hit. And it’s not the end all.”
“To me, I have a jump ahead of it. Just like anybody discovering that they have some type of cancer in their body, I’m ahead of it right now.”
Across eight seasons with the Packers, Green had 1,000-plus rushing yards six times, including a career-high 1,883 in 2003. The four-time Pro Bowler also spent time with the Seahawks and Texans.
Green finished his 12-year career with 9,205 yards rushing and 60 touchdowns.
