They might not be the T-206 Honus Wagner baseball card for rarity. But they are hard to find in this marketplace, and that was before injuries in the last week took a few players of interest — the A’s Shea Langeliers, the Giants’ Casey Schmitt and the Reds’ Spencer Steer — off of the board.

What is rare is valuable and so you can imagine the prices being high for this genre, which might help the Mets acquire some value for even the expiring contracts of Luis Robert Jr. and the really hot for a month-plus Tyrone Taylor.
