Opera singer Jubilant Sykes was stabbed more than 70 times —allegedly by his son: autopsy

Add Page Six on Google Opera singer Jubilant Sykes was stabbed to death more than 70 times, allegedly by his son Micah Sykes, an autopsy revealed.

According to the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner documents obtained by Us Weekly, Jubilant’s cause of death was “multiple stab wounds” by a knife.

The Grammy nominee’s death was listed as a “homicide.”

The report also included details about Jubilant’s final moments from his wife, Cecelia Sykes, who claimed Micah had a “documented history of mental illness” and had “stabbed and killed” her husband.

“The wife was in the shower when she heard the decedent yell out for her to call 9-1-1,” the report stated, per the outlet.

“When she came out of the shower, she saw their adult son standing over [Jubilant] stabbing him with an apparent artifactual sharp edge weapon.”

In the docs, a medical summary revealed that “at least 73 total wounds” — 68 were caused by “sharp force” and five were labeled as “blunt force.”

In addition to the killer using “a curved knife with the blade measuring approximately 9 inches long and 2 inches wide,” the person also attacked Jubilant with “a 10-pound dumbbell containing apparent blood stains.”

No illicit drugs or prescribed medications were found in the musician’s system, per a toxicology report within the docs obtained by Us Weekly.

Jubilant was pronounced dead by officials at the scene.

As Page Six previously reported, Jubilant was found stabbed to death in his Santa Monica, California, home on December 8, 2025. He was 71.

At the time, the Santa Monica Police Department said Micah, 31, was “found inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.”

The police also said they “secured the scene, and subsequently obtained a search warrant” and recovered the weapon at the home.

Micah was charged with murder in his father’s tragic death.

The baritone singer’s son reportedly had mental health issues over the years — including being diagnosed with schizophrenia.

In 2017, a woman filed a restraining order against Micah, claiming he showed “signs of mental instability.”

“His behavior is unpredictable. Micah poses a real threat… and he has been violent with his own family members,” the petition read, per Rolling Stone.

Micah was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold after an attempted break-in.

He is currently being held without bail due to concerns over his mental health. His next arraignment is scheduled for August.

Jubilant was married to his childhood love, Cecelia, for 37 years. They also share sons Madison and Morgan.
