The U.S. men’s national team coach remains in talks with U.S. Soccer to sign a contract extension through the 2030 World Cup.
Pochettino told Spanish radio outlet Cadena Cope on Thursday that “we are evaluating it, looking at it. [U.S. Soccer] have made me an offer to continue, and we will see. Next week we will [make] a decision.”

It’s the case even with the 4-1 loss to Belgium that knocked the USMNT out of the World Cup in the Round of 16 and left a bad taste in fans’ mouths, even after they won two group stage matches for the first time since 1930 and won a decisive 2-0 Round of 32 match over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to reports, Pochettino was targeted by several clubs in Europe this year.
Pochettino spent multiple years coaching in Europe for Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea. Pochettino took the reins for the American squad in September 2024.
On Thursday, U.S. Soccer CEO and Secretary General JT Batson shared his optimism that Pochettino would remain.
When he first came on in 2024, U.S. Soccer received support from billionaire benefactors to subsidize his contract. It’s not yet clear what the financials would look like in a potential extension.

“Yes, absolutely,” Pochettino said. “They both deserve to be in the final. I think it’s the best game you can watch nowadays. I have no doubt this is going to be one of the most important games in history.”
