Conor McGregor reveals surgery, fight plans in cryptic social media post after shock UFC 329 injury

Add The New York Post on Google Conor McGregor is prepared to make yet another comeback.

The UFC legend plans to honor the last fight on his contract after his return bout against Max Holloway lasted just 69 seconds due to injury, he announced on Monday morning.

“Surgery. Prehab. Return to martial arts practice. Go again. Final fight of the contract. Please God!” wrote in a lengthy Instagram post that featured religious imagery.

McGregor, 37, sustained a knee injury just seconds into his UFC return this past Saturday after his right leg buckled during an attempted jumping roundhouse kick.

“My faith is unconditional and I am thankful I get to prove it!,” McGregor wrote, noting that he endured an “intense” day in church. “My lifestyle changes are permanent and not just until. I am thankful I get to prove it.

“I am in sin city and remain completely devoid of all sin. I will not open that door nor crack its seal! I am already back to collecting wins! In Jesus name I pray!”

His longtime coach, John Kavanagh, said the maligned kick was practiced daily without issue in the training leading up to the fight.

The Irish superstar struggled to maintain his balance for the remainder of the brief bout, which was eventually stopped on account of his injury.

While he did not speak to reporters, McGregor later bashed “nonsense” theories that he suffered the injury before the highly anticipated main event — his first since suffering a gruesome leg break five years prior versus Dustin Poirier.

While no official diagnosis has been revealed, UFC boss Dana White said, “We’re assuming it’s a blown ACL.”

McGregor — who has dealt with a myriad of injuries in recent years — ironically also suffered a torn ACL during his first matchup against Holloway during UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013.

McGregor has not won a UFC bout since he defeated veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone via TKO at UFC 246 back in January 2020.

However, the former two-division champion’s return was a betting boon as sportsbooks saw a record night, with the fight being the “most bet MMA event in BetMGM history.”

It’s unclear when a possible McGregor return would occur, with White being noncommittal about the possibility after Saturday’s 69-second flop.

“There’s a lot of unanswered questions right now,” White said.
