As the Emmy nominations unfurled, the legion of “Yellowstone” fans bemoaned that Taylor Sheridan’s “The Madison,” “Landman” and “Tulsa King” were all but ignored by Emmy voters — outside of one stunt nomination for “Tulsa King.” Ditto for the series finale of “Stranger Things,” which was overlooked in the best drama category.
But there was perhaps no snub bigger than Taylor Swift neglecting to include Ellen DeGeneres on the guest list of some 1,000 VIPs for her wedding to Travis Kelce. And there’s no chance Swift can say, “I hardly knew ye,” (like some other guests we told you about who did make the cut).
The billionaire pop star appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” 19 times between 2008 and 2021, in a mix of full in-studio interviews, musical performances and pre-taped sketches.
The “Shake It Off” singer’s first appearance on the show was Nov. 11, 2008, to promote “Fearless.” There was also the 2013 episode in which Swift became visibly emotional when DeGeneres teased her about her very public love-life challenges.
Her final appearance took place in 2021 in a pre-taped segment rather than a traditional sit-down, (Covid was still raging).
DeGeneres was such a Swiftie that her team put together a montage titled “Every Taylor Swift Appearance on the ‘Ellen’ Show, Uninterrupted.” (It’s available on the show’s YouTube channel.)
One person who worked on the show tells us they weren’t surprised by the omission. “She was regular and favorite guest, but it was always just a talkshow relationship,” says the source. “They did lots of fun stuff together, but there was never a friendship beyond a professional one.”
