Add The New York Post on Google The Issue: A new report flagging 900+ NYC public schools that have been failing for more than a decade. I don’t think anyone was surprised to learn of the terrible state of our New York City public schools. However, what always surprises me is how parents continue to vote for politicians who put the welfare of teachers over the children (“NYC’s Eternal School Failures,” Editorial, July 7).
As long as New York is controlled by Democrats like Gov. Hochul, practical solutions will never be discussed, much less implemented.
I was troubled to read Success Academy’s recent analysis claiming that New York City public schools are failing students.
As a longtime educator, I believe such claims deserve closer examination.
Traditional public schools are required to educate every child who enrolls and don’t have the luxury of choosing which students they serve.
The city’s public educators work tirelessly every day to support students facing academic, social, emotional and economic challenges. Rather than diminishing their efforts, we should recognize the complexity of their work and focus on solutions that strengthen education for all students.
Until New York City’s education system is released from the hold of the vile and corrupt United Federation of Teachers, our children will never receive the true education they deserve.
More money is being spent every year with failing results. It’s time for a major change in this system. Bring in professional outside educators to right this wrong — the whole system must be gutted and replaced. Our children deserve better.
There’s only one way to improve New York City public schools’ eternal failures: Any school where a majority of its students fail standardized English and math tests in consecutive years should be forced to become a charter school. This would compel the city public schools to up their game.
There is never any accountability with the New York public schools. The union is too strong. The school system is designed to protect itself instead of helping students. The schools should be run by an outside organization that doesn’t answer to the union.
The Democrats are finding out for themselves that these communists are like Dracula: Once invited into your house, Dracula will kill everyone there (“Socialist storm will knock down party’s ‘big tent,’ ” Kirsten Fleming, July 6).
Out of desperation, the Democrats, invited the communists into their “tent.” Now they’re being sucked dry of blood, one by one.
Whether it’s Mayor Mamdani or Rep. Hakeem Jeffries boasting of their party being inclusive of everyone, most Americans will refuse to be gaslit by their empty promises.
The Republican Party has a proven track record of being open to all who want a fair shot in a meritocracy.
The weight of reality will cause the Democratic Socialist party to fold its tent, and the tenets of capitalism will be the one to lift all up.
America welcomes people of all views and persuasions in the population. But why should anyone favoring removal of our hard-won freedoms be allowed to lead?
Unfortunately, Americans have been so brainwashed over the past half-century that many of them have lost track of reality.
Fortunately the blast of reality is about to come.
