Add The New York Post on Google Chennedy Carter just can’t seem to find a long-term home.
The Aces announced Tuesday they waived Carter after she played in 13 games this season, and she’ll now look to join her fifth team in six seasons.
Carter, a 2020 first-round pick, became a household name two years ago when she shoulder-checked then-Fever rookie Caitlin Clark and received a Flagrant 1 foul.
Clark went sprawling toward the ground after the shoulder check.
That incident has been a microcosm of Carter’s career so far – one filled with rough play, suspensions and injuries.
Carter began her career with the Dream in 2020, and while she averaged 17.4 points per game, she fell short of winning Rookie of the Year due to playing less games in the COVID-shortened season.
She then played just 11 games in her sophomore campaign with the Dream due to an elbow injury and was suspended indefinitely for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
The 28-year-old was then traded to the Sparks before the 2022 season, starting just two games and being benched for “poor conduct.”
While the Sky gave Carter an opportunity in 2024 after she went unsigned in 2023 and she even averaged a career-high 17.5 points per game, while committing a league-leading four flagrant fouls.
One of the flagrant fouls was the aforementioned one on Clark, and the Sky chose to move on from her.
After going unsigned in 2025, Carter joined the Aces looking to revive her career, and she looked well on her way to accomplishing that goal early in the season.
She scored double-digit points each of the first seven games, including a season-high 27 against the Sun on May 13.
Across eight May games, Carter averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting 65.1 percent from the field.
In five games since, she’s averaging just 3.8 points a game while shooting just 35.3 percent.
Carter also missed the first three games of June due to a leg injury, barely played when she returned and missed another five with an illness.
Her declining production and absence haven’t seemed to affect the Aces, as they are 10-3 since June 1 with a 112.5 offensive rating (fourth in WNBA).
