Maniac who allegedly rammed car into NYC synagogue is hit with federal charges: Trump DOJ

The troubled New Jersey man who allegedly intentionally rammed his car into an iconic Brooklyn synagogue has been hit with federal charges, The Post has learned.

Dan Sohail, 36, already faces state hate crime charges in the bizarre and shocking January episode in which he crashed his Honda into the temple at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights — the headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement — five times.

The Carteret, NJ, native was picked up by federal authorities Monday morning on separate charges of intentionally damaging religious property, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

“Americans should be free to practice their faith without fearing defacement of their sacred places,” Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon said in a statement.

“The Department of Justice will not tolerate attacks on houses of worship, and will vigorously prosecute those who carry them out.”
