J.J. Watt joining ‘Shark Tank’ as guest investor for 18th season: ‘Pretty surreal’

Add The New York Post on Google J.J. Watt accomplished plenty on the football field as a five-time All-Pro.

Now, the sack master is trying something different as a shark.

Watt, 37, is joining “Shark Tank” for its 18th season as a guest investor in something that is almost a fitting dream come true.

[My wife] Kealia and I have debated deals & terms from our couch for years,” Watt wrote on X Tuesday after the ABC show made the news official. “Crazy valuations, royalty deals, all of it. To be in a place now where I’m fortunate enough to be asked to be a Guest Shark is pretty surreal.

The show welcomed him in a social media post that hyped up his playing career and what is to maybe come for him on the program.

“JJ Watt has made game-winning plays, and now he’s making business moves as a Guest Shark!” the show’s official Facebook page wrote.

Watt will be joined by a number of other guest investors this season, including actress Mindy Kaling and popular YouTuber MrBeast.

J.J. Watt was a star for the Texans in the NFL. Guest Sharks have included Alex Rodriguez, Michael Strahan, Giants co-owner Steve Tisch and tennis star Maria Sharapova.

Watt, after 12 years in the NFL, became a minority owner of English soccer team Burnley F.C. with his wife in 2023. Burnley’s owners, including Watt, agreed to take over Spanish club Espanyol in 2025, ESPN reported last summer.

He also has his eponymous foundation that is meant to “provide after-school opportunities for middle-school-aged children in the community to become involved in athletics.”

The longtime Texans star is also an analyst for the NFL on CBS.

“Shark Tank” will air on ABC and stream on Hulu this fall, but a date for the season premiere has not yet been announced.
