Elisabeth Hasselbeck Claps Back After Sunny Hostin Called Her Out On ‘The View’ For Voting For Trump: “I Proudly Voted For Trump”

Sunny Hostin and Elisabeth Hasselbeck shared a tense moment on The View when Hostin slammed President Trump for ordering the United States to attack Iran, despite running on an anti-war platform during the 2024 election.

“I thought this was going to be the president of peace, I thought this president wanted to win a Nobel Peace Prize for peace,” she said. “That is not what I’m seeing. I am not seeing America first.”

Hostin then took aim at Hasselbeck, an outspoken conservative who is currently filling in for host Alyssa Farah Griffin this week during her maternity leave. Hasselbeck previously co-hosted The View from 2003 to 2013.

“I think people that voted for Trump – I was not one of them, I think you were – those people wanted America first,” Hostin continued.

Hasselbeck did not let Hostin complete her thought before she interjected.

“I proudly voted for Trump,” she confirmed. “Because the alternative was not great and we would absolutely be under the wrong power.”

As the hosts began to talk over each other, Whoopi Goldberg interjected to send the show to commercial, after which the hosts continued sharing their thoughts about the United States bombing Iran.

Tensions began to rise during Hasslebeck’s first day back on The View. But the former host said she was “thankful” to be invited back on the show when she first took the stage with her co-hosts, kicking off her week as a guest host on the ABC talk show.

“Civil discourse is not dead! We may have differences of opinion but we love each other and we’re stronger for it,” she announced at the top of the show.

However, Hasselbeck teased that some drama may arise as she continued, “We can hold our positions in one hand and each other’s hands in the other, and be able to live as Americans with the freedom that we have, and speak our hearts and minds. We get to do that all week.”

“It might get a little spicy at times,” Hasselbeck admitted. “But we do not hate each other. We love each other.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
