The moment is here: The Moment, aka the Charli XCX movie, is coming to digital platforms to buy.
Directed by Aidan Zamiri, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes based on a story idea from Charli XCX, The Moment is a mockumentary starring Charli XCX as a fictionalized version of herself. So, while not a true documentary, there are certainly many elements of The Moment that ring true.
The British pop singer stars as herself, Charli XCX, gearing up to go on tour for her hit 2024 album Brat. Charli XCX had said the idea for the film came from the pressure she felt to make a real concert film or documentary. She decided to make a fake one, instead. Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, Isaac Powell, and Alexander Skarsgård all star in supporting roles. The Moment premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January, where it was met with mixed reviews.
The film picked up steam in theaters, but many fans didn’t get a chance to see it before it was gone. Lucky for Charli’s angels, The Moment is coming to digital. But before you spend $25 on the movie, you should know that we expect to see The Moment streaming on HBO Max this summer.
Beginning on Tuesday, March 3 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, March 2) you will be able to buy a digital copy of The Moment on platforms like Amazon Prime, Fandango At Home, Apple TV, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to buy the film, but on Amazon, the film cost $24.99 to pre-order a digital copy. The Moment will not yet be available to rent online. The Moment DVD release has not yet been announced.
The Moment is not currently available to stream on any subscription-based services, but the film will eventually be coming to streaming, on HBO Max, thanks to the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, which brings A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the streaming service HBO Max.
If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.
If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.
You might see The Moment streaming on HBO Max around early June 2026.
The Moment movie streaming release date on HBO Max has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when you can expect to see The Moment on HBO Max.
The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on HBO Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that HBO Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights to The Moment, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, began streaming on HBO Max a little over four months after its release in theaters, and about three months after its release on digital.
If The Moment follows a similar release strategy, you might see the Charli XCX movie The Moment streaming on HBO Max in about three months, around early June 2026.
This is all speculation. The A24 digital and streaming releases have varied by title. If you want to watch The Moment right away, you can buy a digital copy starting tomorrow.
