Add The New York Post on Google A Bigfoot hunter who claimed to have found the legendary creature’s corpse now says he has scientific proof the remains are a real-life Sasquatch — and its DNA is part human.
Charles Stuart, who bills himself as “Snake the Bigfoot Hunter,” made highly disputed claims in 2024 that he found the decomposing remains of an 8-foot, 300-pound Sasquatch in upstate New York’s Adirondack mountains.
Now he claims he enlisted Cornell University to conduct a DNA test and found the creature is a mixture of Neanderthal and human, according to the hunter’s website.
“After doing a DNA test — we found that this is 58.5% neanderthal — and this 41.5% remaining, that is human,” Stuart told Local 4 Detroit on Sunday.
“What we have is a neanderthal-human hybrid — and that neanderthal side that has been evolving over the millennia has remained very aggressive” Stuart said about Dack, which is what he named the supposed corpse.
The Cornell analysis claims the archaic DNA likely came from “a highly distinct familial line” that dodged the genetic bottlenecks modern humans went through after the Ice Age, according to a copy reviewed by The Post.
It detailed that there is European and Asian neanderthal DNA that is mixed with some Native American ancestry, Stuart and the Cornell report said.
Stuart also told the local outlet that Dack’s teeth were tested and it was determined that its age was somewhere between the late teens and early 20s — and he warned there are likely more sasquatches hiding in remote caves and living “scavenger lifestyles” throughout upstate New York.
But skeptics were quick to dismiss the claims, especially after Stuart put the body on display at last year’s The Great New York State Fair, where 60,000 people came to see the body, his website detailed.
Some believe he’s simply trying to build hype leading up to this year’s fair, which runs from Aug. 26 to Sept. 7, as he already started advertising that Dack will be back on display, though the exhibit is free.
Matthew Moneymaker, a sasquatch “expert” from the the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, previously shared his doubts on social media about Stuart, calling him both a hoaxer and scammer.
“No, he doesn’t actually have bigfoot remains. It’s just a cheesey fake dead bigfoot, perhaps a little bit better than Tom Biscardi’s famous fake dead bigfoot,” Moneymaker wrote in the lead up to the 2025 state fair.
But Stuart is shaking them off, and said he’s fine with the doubters.
“I’m going to get backlash,” Stuart said.
“[But,] we’re trying to share this with as many people as we can,” he said in defense of his planned tour to show off the corpse.
Cornell University did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
