Motorcyclist dies after crashing head-on with tricycle in Hong Kong

Motorcycle was heading north on Sha Tin Heights section of Tai Po Road when he lost control of bike

Police said the crash happened at about 3.21pm on the Sha Tin Heights section of Tai Po Road near the Kowloon Reservoir, when the motorcycle heading north toppled and crossed into the opposite lane, colliding head‑on with the tricycle at a bend.

The motorcyclist, 22, was unconscious and rushed to Caritas Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead at 3.59pm.

The tricycle rider, 40, sustained injuries to his head and limbs and was conscious when being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

The section of Tai Po Road where the crash occurred has three lanes and a speed limit of 70 km/h (44mph)
