As he rehabs a fractured right fibula, there is a good chance that start wouldn’t occur until after the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
As a proven starting pitcher, Holmes could be a commodity, but he told The Post on Saturday that he isn’t allowing himself to think he’s about to parachute out of a difficult situation.
“You feel it in this room that there have been big expectations, and we haven’t met them,” Holmes said before the Mets faced the Braves on Saturday night. “I feel it. I want to do as much as I can to help the team. I don’t know what the future holds, but I don’t feel like I just want to find some way out. Things are hard right now, and I want to be part of the solution.”
