Pochettino on Wednesday night clinched the most wins all-time by a men’s U.S. head coach at the World Cup with the USMNT’s 2-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in the Round of 32 in Santa Clara, Calif., marking the squad’s first knockout round win since 2002.
During the victory celebrations at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., Pochettino joined in on the crowd’s singalong to “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” which has become a postgame tradition for the Americans this World Cup.
The Fox broadcasters went silent to allow viewers to listen to the fan-favorite song inside the stadium. Midfielder Weston McKennie was seen conducting the crowd as they sang to their players.
Crowds outside the stadium joined in with a singalong of their own.

Pochettino led the American men to first place in Group D after they won their first two group stage matches against Paraguay and Australia.
Pochettino’s record with the US is now 17 wins, two losses, and 11 draws.
It remains to be seen whether he will stay on as head coach of US Soccer following this World Cup, as his contract will expire after this tournament. The United States Soccer Federation has offered Pochettino an extension through another World Cup cycle, which would keep him with the team until 2030.
But decisions on the matter are not expected to be made until after the 2026 tournament.

Pochettino’s squad has been feeding off the energy of the fans since their first match, and in its biggest match in years, the USMNT continued to utilitze that euphoria on home soil.
The U.S. will face Belgium in the Round of 16 in Seattle on Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
