Gustaf Sjökvist

Gustaf Lennart Sjökvist , born 7 December 1943 in Varberg's parish in Halland County , died February 15, 2015 in Katarina parish in Stockholm , was a Swedish conductor and church musician with professor's name . He was assistant cathedral organist at Storkyrkan in Stockholm 1967–1981 and the cathedral organist there 1981–2011. In 2011, Gustaf Sjökvist and his chamber choir moved their base to Ersta church . Gustaf Sjökvist was a member of the Royal Academy of Music since 1988 and its presidency since 2012. Sjökvist was active as both conductor and orchestra conductor. He has also been a music teacher in Spånga gymnasium . Sjökvist was musically responsible at the wedding between Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling , a role he also had at the wedding between Carl XVI Gustaf and Silvia Sommerlath in 1976. He was married to Ulla-Britt Sjökvist (formerly Aourell, born 1926).
