A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Azure, issuant from base a tower Argent (Silver Gray) masoned Sable charged with a double-ward key erect, ward to base of the first, all between two lightning bolts in chevron reverse of the second; on a chief of the like, a hurt bearing a deployed parachute of the last. Attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed "FROM SKIES OF BLUE" in Silver.

Gold denotes honor and dignity. Blue is the color traditionally associated with Airborne. The following images combined, form the Second Brigade Combat Team: the tower denotes the Corps of Engineers; the key denotes security, the duties of Military Intelligence and Military Police. The lightning bolts signify the Signal Corps; the disc alludes to the shoulder sleeve insignia worn by the 82d Airborne Division, in which the Brigade is organized. The open parachute symbolizes individual proficiency and parachute qualifications.

From a wreath Argent and Azure, a dagger fesswise Argent (Silver Gray) between wings conjoined in base of the like surmounted by a hurt voided of the field bearing a spur Proper, charged on each wing with a palm frond Vert. FROM SKIES OF BLUE.

The bayonet represents the unit campaign participation during World War I as an Infantry unit. The blue disc with the spur denotes the Brigade's duty during World War II as a Mechanized Cavalry Reconnaissance unit. The palm fronds allude to service in the Armed Forces Expedition and Southwest Asia operations.

A blue shield-shaped embroidered device with a semi-circular base 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in height by 1 7/8 inches (4.76 cm) in width overall, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border divided horizontally by a 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) white stripe. The beret flash was approved on 23 February 2006. It was amended to correct the unit designation on 20 March 2006.

A blue oval shaped embroidered device 1 3/8 inches (3.49 cm) in height by 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width overall, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border divided horizontally by a 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) white stripe. The background trimming was approved on 23 February 2006. It was amended to correct the unit designation on 20 March 2006.
