A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a blue arrowhead on which is superimposed a silver lion rampant.
The 2d Infantry Brigade has in its organization the 26th and 28th Infantry Regiments. The Mohawk arrowhead, a regimental insignia during World War I, is from the coat of arms of the 26th Infantry Regiment. The lion, a charge on the arms of the ancient province of Picardy, is taken from the coat of arms of the 28th Infantry Regiment.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Infantry Brigade on 25 September 1928. It was rescinded on 3 August 1964. The insignia was reinstated and redesignated for the 2d Brigade, 1st Infantry Division and amended to change the size of the insignia on 11 December 1980.
