The shoulder sleeve insignia of the 1st Armored Division and the colors yellow (for Armor units), and blue and red are used on the baldric, drum and tabard designs. The unit’s eleven campaign honors are displayed on the baldric and drum. A representation of a tank drive sprocket is depicted in the middle portion of the baldric in gold on a green disc and on the dome of the mace in silver. Above the sprocket is a scroll, doubled, recognizing the Band’s Army Superior Unit Award and three Meritorious Unit Commendation Awards. The mace is designed to simulate riveted armor plate in reference to early armor application and to the name “Old Ironsides,” which is lettered on both sides of the upper ring. On the ferrule of the mace is a simulation of a section of tank tread.
