A gold color metal and enamel device 1 13/32 inches (3.57cm) in height overall consisting of the shield, crest and motto of the coat of arms. Attached below the shield is a white scroll inscribed "WE LEAD THE WAY" in gold letters.
Same as the coat of arms.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved on 28 Jul 1924. It was amended on 31 Jan 1939 to add the crest. Coat of Arms

Per fess Argent and Azure in chief on a mount issuant a mango tree proper in base saltirewise a bayonet and a bolo of the first hilted Or. On a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure a lamp of knowledge Or flamed Gules. WE LEAD THE WAY.
White and blue are the previous and present Infantry colors. The mango tree, the crossed bolo of the Filipino, and the bayonet of the regiment represent service in the Philippine Insurrection. The Regiment's long association with the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia, is indicated by the classic lamp of knowledge.
