A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Gules (Soldier Red), a fess Sable charged with six mullets in fess Argent (Silver Gray), in base a hammer surmounted by a key, wards downward in saltire all of the third; on a chief dancetté Sable, a mullet of the third. Attached below a Black scroll inscribed "SUPPORT IN STRENGTH" in Silver.
The black fess upon the white fess alludes to the highway, symbolizing the transportation capabilities and the extensive movement to great distances conducted by the Battalion to provide logistical support to units. The six stars represent the components within the 5th Brigade: 1st Combined Arms Battalion, 2d Combined Arms Battalion, Fires Battalion, Special Troops Battalion, Future Force Integration Directorate and Headquarters Company. The key denotes the security of the unit's military supplies for distribution to supported organizations. The hammer signifies the maintenance of all the Brigade's vehicles required for sustainment of the missions. The dancetté suggests the mountainous terrain of the Franklin Mountains, outside Fort Bliss, Texas, the birthplace of the Brigade Support Battalion. The star indicates the command and control for the original support branches which form the unit: transportation, quartermaster and ordnance.
